About Cocourth

Cocourth is a US coconut charcoal brand that's been operating since 2015. They started in partnership with established Indonesian charcoal makers, then in 2017 invested in their own Indonesian factory — PT Cocourth Indonesia — to control quality directly.

The split between brand and manufacturing is normal in coconut charcoal. Indonesia supplies around 80% of the world's shisha coal because its tropical climate grows the densest, highest-density coconut shells, and local artisans have decades of pressing experience. Most coconut coal brands — Cocourth included — are HQ'd elsewhere but make their product there. Genuine exceptions are rare; Al Duchan (made in Germany) is one of the few.

Everything Cocourth makes is 100% coconut shell. No fillers, no wood binders, no chemical accelerants. The range is unusually wide: standard cubes (25mm), Big Cubes (26mm), XXX Cubes for long sessions, Mini Cubes for quick ones, Hexagons for foil, Quarter Circles for Kaloud Lotus HMDs, plus heavy-duty foil rolls.

The brand's strength is clean consistency. Low ash, no sulphur or chemical smell, steady burn temperature. A solid, predictable everyday coal with a format for whatever setup you run.

Where is Cocourth made?
The brand is American; the charcoal is made in Indonesia at Cocourth's own factory, PT Cocourth Indonesia, established in 2017. This is the industry pattern — most coconut coal brands are based elsewhere but manufacture in Indonesia because 80% of the world's shisha charcoal comes from there. Indonesian coconut shells are denser and produce better coal.
What's the difference between Cocourth's cube sizes?
Burn time and bowl match. Mini Cubes (22mm) suit small bowls and quick sessions. Standard cubes (25mm) are the everyday choice. Big Cubes (26mm) add about 20 minutes of burn. XXX Cubes are the biggest — built for lounge-length sessions where you want fewer coal changes. Pick by bowl size and how long you session.
Which Cocourth format suits a Kaloud Lotus?
The Quarter Circle. Four quarter-circle pieces slot together to make a perfect disc inside the Lotus basket — clean contact with the heat plate, even burn, no gaps. Standard cubes work too but quarter circles were designed specifically for HMDs. Hexagons don't fit the basket — those belong on foil.
How long do Cocourth coals burn?
Depends on the size. Standard cubes last around 90 minutes, Big Cubes around 110, XXX Cubes push past 120. Hexagons run 90 to 120 minutes depending on rotation. Quarter circles typically go 75 to 90 minutes inside a Lotus. Actual burn time varies with airflow and how often you rotate.
Is Cocourth better than Shaman or CocoShisha?
Different, not better. All three are reputable Indonesian-made coconut coals. Cocourth runs a touch hotter than CocoShisha and has the widest size range. Shaman is the standard-issue 26mm workhorse. CocoShisha runs cooler — better for heat-sensitive blends. If you pack heavy or session long, Cocourth is a solid pick. If you want cooler and gentler, CocoShisha.
Why does Cocourth also sell foil?
Most charcoal brands stick to coal. Cocourth extended into foil because customers asked — their Heavy-Duty Foil Roll is thicker (around 50 microns) than standard kitchen foil and built to handle the weight of a full cube without sagging. It's not their core business, but it's a natural adjacent product for customers who want everything from one brand.
