Description
Reviews

Deep oxblood across the body, pooling darker where the glaze gathers at the stem — the colour of pigeon's-blood ruby, the most prized of corundum gems. Called "king of stones" in Sanskrit, set into the crowns of Hindu rulers and medieval European kings. The Mitovation V2 architecture beneath: 5+1 hole hybrid, 15 to 18 g pack capacity, sized for blonde leaf.

MIT Luxury Mitovation V2 Ruby — Hybrid Phunnel in Oxblood Stoneware

Why This Shisha Bowl

  • Oxblood deepening to dark. The glaze runs deep red across the body and pools to near-black where it gathers at the base of the stem. Each Ruby bowl pools slightly differently — the gradient pattern is unique to the piece.
  • Six airflow points, not one. Five outer holes carve through the perimeter of the bowl and a sixth runs through the centre of the spire — the Mitovation V2 architecture distributing heat across the whole pack instead of focusing it at one point. The four-petal spire crown is the MIT design mark.
  • Blonde leaf at its best. The five-hole airflow is built for lighter shisha — Al Fakher, Adalya, Starbuzz, Fumari, and Social Smoke all pack and burn cleanly on this style of bowl. Dark leaf works but moves through faster; mixes are a comfortable middle ground.
  • Wide 80 mm Lotus seat. Both the Lotus 1+ and Lotus 1+3 sit flush on the 80 mm rim — the wider footprint means the HMD seats with confidence and stays stable across a long session. Both confirmed in our testing.
  • 15 to 18 g per pack. Generous capacity for the bowl size — long sessions or two-person packs without overfilling. The 68 mm inner chamber gives shisha room to breathe between the spire and the rim.
  • Vitrified stoneware body. MIT's two-stage firing: 950°C bisque, then 1240 to 1280°C glaze fire. The clay vitrifies fully through the body, locking the glaze permanently. The MIT mark is pressed into the stem face.

Fit & Compatibility

The 80 mm rim of the Mitovation V2 accepts both the Kaloud Lotus 1+ and Lotus 1+3 with a flush seat — both confirmed in our showroom across the range. The wider 80 mm footprint compared to single-spire phunnels gives an exceptionally stable HMD platform. Foil and Provost setups work cleanly for smokers preferring manual heat control. Standard hookah grommet seat — compatible with any modern stem.

Care & Maintenance

  • Flush the bowl with warm water and a soft brush after each session — never hot water, never any chemical cleaners. The food-safe glaze doesn't retain flavours between sessions, so swapping shisha is fine.
  • Leave the dish soap, abrasive cleaners, and dishwashers out of the rotation. All three can dull the glaze and weaken the clay body over time.
  • Give the bowl time to cool to room temperature before any rinse. Cracks come from thermal shock — hot clay meeting cold water — more than from anything else.
  • Tuck bowls away somewhere dry between sessions, and avoid stacking. Clay edges chip when they touch each other.

How red will my Ruby bowl actually be?

The base oxblood tone is consistent across pieces, but the depth of pooling at the stem varies. Some Ruby bowls run more uniform red across the body; others develop richer black-red pooling at the base where the glaze gathers thicker. The colour family will match — a deep, jewel-tone red with darker gradient — but the exact pattern is unique to your bowl. Read the handmade variation notes below.

Can I use dark leaf in this bowl?

Yes — but it'll burn faster than on a single-spire phunnel because the airflow is more open. If you typically smoke Tangiers, Trifecta, or other dark leaf brands, you'll likely want to pack the bowl tighter or use a Provost screen to slow the burn. If dark leaf is your primary tobacco, the Ashera architecture is the more natural pairing. Mixed packs work cleanly on the Mitovation V2.

What's the difference between Ruby and the other Mitovation V2 colourways?

Just the glaze — same bowl, same architecture, same dimensions, same compatibility. Ruby is the deep red of the four colourways. The Mitovation V2 colourways are a visual choice, not a performance tier. Pick the colour that fits how you set up your hookah and which complements your stem.

Handmade in Turkey — What to Expect

MIT stands for Made In Turkey. Every MIT bowl is fully handmade — hand-shaped, hand-finished, and twice-fired in small batches by Turkish ceramicists. That craft signature comes with a few honest realities worth knowing before your first session.

  • Each piece is unique. Colour tone, size, surface pattern, texture, and glaze pooling vary subtly from the listing photos. The shape, capacity range, and overall character will match — the exact look won't be identical to the stock image.
  • Surface marks are part of the craft. Bowls can arrive with light dust, traces of clay residue, fine surface scratches, small dents, or minor chips along the rim or foot. These are inherent to a handmade ceramic and do not affect smoking performance.
  • Hairline cracks and bleeding are normal for clay. Natural stoneware can develop fine hairline cracks during firing or after extended use, and a small amount of molasses bleeding through unglazed sections is part of how clay behaves. Neither affects how the bowl smokes.
  • Rinse before your first session. Wash the bowl in warm (not hot) water with a soft brush to remove any kiln dust or workshop residue before you pack it.

Mass-produced bowls are identical because a machine made them. Every MIT bowl is different because a human did. The variation is the proof.
